Press Release Dear Dance Friends ! Mannheim 2008 - Open to the World - Centre of free dancesport After last year's overwhelming success of the International Dance Masters - Open to the world 2007; an even bigger and better version of this dance sport event will take place in 2008... From 3 - 5 October 2008 the Mannheim with its Congress Centre Rosengarten will turn into the centre of the dancing world. Apart from the 2007 m)))motion International Dance Masters celebrated by 8000 participants and visitors this year will present a never before seen highlight in the amateur category. The team of organisers around Stefan Ossenkop along with the amateur dance organisation DAT (Deutsches Amateur Turnieramt) with its Sports Director Gerd Weissenberg managed to bring the Amateur World Championships for international dance sport organisation IDSA - International Dance Sport Association to the Mannheimer Rosengarten. For the first time in the history of the amateur dance sport, World Championships open to all amateurs will be held. We expect couples from 40 nations to take part in this event. Any amateur couple has the right to take part no matter which dance organisation they belong to. Up until now events were allocated for only one discipline and age group, Mannheim will enter pastures new in that area as well. The Board of the IDSA has allocated all championships in all age groups to Mannheim. This means that from 3 - 5 October 2008 23 world championships will take place under one roof. A total of 25.000$ price money will be paid to the winners and finalists. The DAT, the dance sport organisation of the Berufsverbandes Deutscher Tanzlehrer will also hold their 2008 championships in the Mannheimer Rosengarten. These tournaments are only open to hobby- and sporting-couples from the BDT/DAT and ADTV dance schools. Over 3 days visitors and dancers can enjoy 100 events in various age groups, disciplines and various types of dancing on a 22.000 square metres of the newly refurbished Mannheimer Congress Centre Rosengarten.
